Rubellites are tourmalines with moderately rich dark pink to red hues and medium to dark tones. Red, one of the "big three" colors used in the gemstone industry, is a brilliant alternative for ruby and is widely desired by both designers and collectors. They produce wonderful jewelry stones, and ruby-red specimen free of orange or brown undertones are highly in demand.

The rich hue of rubelite sets it apart from other tourmalines, and although while it is typically found in gemstone collections, clear stones are quite rare.
